I'm a Millennial in the Video Streaming industry that wants a Cable Subscription... Maybe.

We hear it all the time, "Millennials are cutting the cord and killing traditional cable".

As a Millennial, I agree to the above statement to a degree.

I admit that I do not own a cable service but my Roku and Amazon Fire Stick is loaded with Netflix, Hulu, HBOgo, NFL Sunday Ticket, MLBtv, Amazon Prime Video, etc. but I'm now feeling torn.

The idea of switching to OTT players was to pay less for specific content I enjoy as opposed to paying for channels that I don't pay attention to, right?

It seems content providers now are removing themselves from OTT platforms to create their own streaming platform and subscription services.

Last year, Disney announced to pull away from Netflix and create their own streaming service and CBS sports can't be enjoyed on the CBS app anymore without a subscription. (Don't even get me started on the inability to watch Dodger home games on MLBtv even as I paid for a subscription.)

The idea of cord cutting and using subscription services used to be a bragging point to my parents who use traditional cable but now I catch myself visiting more often to utilize their couch and TV (also, free food never hurts either). Ironically the idea of individual streaming platforms is now pushing me towards a traditional cable subscription where I can watch things that I like and more.

As an active member of the Video Streaming industry, I'm torn on this situation as the technology is so exciting but as a Millennial, I'd like to cut cost so I can buy more useless Avocado Toasts.

Anyone else out there having the same dilemma? What are your thoughts on the whole cord cutting situation?

Of course, we could all go for the Comcast + Netflix bundle!
